Choosing the right food for your dog

Choosing the right food for your dog

  • Picking the right dog food can be extremely stressful. For many, dogs are like children so feeding them the best is a top priority. The millions of different brands that all preach about why they are the top choice for your pet make this an even more difficult decision. To make the process a little easier for you all, I have created a list of some of my favorite pet food brands. I personally feed my dogs raw food, but that is not necessarily the best choice for every pet.

To start, my two favorite brands of raw food are Oma’s Pride and Steve’s. Oma’s Pride has both meat and fish options. Their raw food can be purchased by 5-pound bag and shipped to the following states; CT, DE, KY, OH, MA, MD, ME, MI, NC, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, SC, TN, VT, VA, WV & Washington D.C. Steve’s is another great raw food company that sells both nuggets and patties. They also have a variety of proteins to choose from which makes feeding raw much less of a hassle. Steve’s does not ship to as many states, but they do have retailers across the country.

If raw food isn’t for you, here are some of my favorite dry dog foods. Natural and Delicious is one of my favorite kibbles. It comes in a variety of different flavors, but all of the ingredients are top quality. Each flavor has a high-quality protein; chicken, lamb, wild board and fish (cod and herring). Each protein is then mixed with one of the following fruits or vegetables; pomegranate, apple, orange, black currants, blueberries, spinach or carrots. They offer both grain free and low ancestral grain options for all their kibbles. Orijen is another top dog food brand that mixes chicken, turkey, fish and eggs with a combination of fruits and vegetables. They also offer a variety of freeze-dried dogs treats. The only other dry dog food that I would recommend would be Acana. This comes in both single pouches and larger bags. Both their singles and larger bags come in a variety of flavors; bison, lamb, fish, turkey, pork and lamb are just a few. They also offer a variety of treat packs.

I have attached links for all of these companies if you would like to do some further research.
